The second foundation day of Kabui Mothers' Association (KAMA) was observed at Majorkhul Community Hall here today.
Chairperson of Manipur State Women Development Corporation Limited AK Mirabai and KAMA president Kakomlunglu Kamei graced the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, chairperson of NCUI Project Co-ordination Committee Th Borkishore said there would be no end in praising the courage and determination of Manipuri women especially the mothers.
The two women's agitation (Nupi Lal) that have been witnessed exemplify courage of the Manipuri women, he said.
He also appealed to KAMA for giving a chance to take up welfare activities for the women living in remote hilly areas under the project being taken up by him.
In her speech, secretary of Muslim Women's Development Organisation Sitara Begum observed that though the position of the women in Manipur society has been improved and they are contributing their mite, menfolk still look down upon them with discriminatory attitude.
Manipuri womenfolk are yet to get their due share of the rights.
In fact crimes are being committed on women and women police personnel are not press into service at the time of arresting a woman, she pointed out.
Representatives of various women bodies were also present at the occasion as guests of honour.
