Imphal, October 05:
Peeved at inaction of the State authorities to facilitate resumption of normal classes in Government-aided colleges, All Manipur Government Aided College Teachers' Association has urged the Governor Dr SS sidhu to intervene on the matter.
Conveying that a memorandum on the issue had been submitted to the Governor, an Association release expressed strong resentment that the State authorities are yet to take concrete action to ensure resumption of normal classes despite a seven point MoU signed between the Govt and the Association that brought AMGACTA's agitation to an amicable end.
Non release of detained student activists including aided-college students has been cited as the main hurdling hampering normal academic activities in these institutions.
While appreciating Govt initiatives in solving the issue of the AMGACTA through an understanding, the teachers' body nevertheless decried indifferent attitude of the State authorities to address the student detention issue which has undesirably contributed to cessation of normal classes for over three months, added an Association release.
