Imphal, November 04:
Even as normal classes have been resumed in all the Government colleges after all the terminated part time lecturers were reinstated, the Government College Part Time Lecturers' Association, Manipur maintained that they would persist for fulfilment of their three demands.
A statement issued by the Association informed that their indefinite cease work stir was suspended not because of any understanding with the State Government but to save the career of students and in the larger interest of Manipur.
The part time lecturers were constrained to retract their steps because of the obdurate final position of the State Government to reinstate the terminated part timers only and nothing more, quite oblivious to the woes of both the teachers and the students.
Even as the cease work stir has been suspended in the interest of the students, the association persisted with its stand to urge the State Government for fulfilment of its three demands.
While condemning the arson at some colleges during the part timers' stir, it demanded unconditional release of all the students held in connection with the issue.
It also appealed to all the teachers to make up for the lost time during the stir.
