Imphal, Aug 01: The 14th World Breast-feeding Week observance has begun for Thoubal district from today.

Deputy Commissioner of district P Vaiphei and Chief Medical Officer Dr Ksh Manglem attended the inaugural function held at DC office complex, Thoubal district as chief guest and president respectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Vaiphei appealed to the organisers and other people who were present for concerted efforts in spreading awareness on the benefit of breast feeding, specially among the women.

A one-day State-level workshop on the theme of Infant Milk Substitute (IMS) Act and its awareness among the people was also organised to mark the occasion.

Many resource persons read out papers during the workshop participated by around 40 delegates coming from different parts of the State.

The event was organised by Community Food and Nutrition Extension Unit, Chingamathak, Imphal, which is under Department of Women and Child Development, Union HRD Ministry.
