Imphal, March 01 2011: Manipur government today decided to demolish all unauthorized religious structures that have sprung up at public places.

The decision was taken in a seating of the cabinet this evening, said SPF spokesperson, N Biren.

The cabinet decided to handover the task for demolition to district level committees to be constituted by the government.

Deputy Commissioners of each district will be the chairman of the committees, the spokesperson said.

Unauthorised religious structures, including six inside the Keibul Lamjao National Park, had been identified by the government which is inclusive of 316 identified unauthorized religious structures across the state, according to a report of the state government compiled on reports submitted by Deputy Commissioners of the districts.

The cabinet also discussed the sectoral and sub-sectoral allocation of the annual outlay for the fiscal year 2011-12 which the Planning Commission of India had finalized at ' 3,210 crore.

The meeting agreed to invest ' 800 crore SPA allocated by the PCI in the improvement of road communication including rural road connectivity, agriculture, horticulture and education.

Of the total SPA allocation, the cabinet decided to invest ' 38.67 crore in agriculture sector, ' 70.24 in rural development, ' 41.13 crore in irrigation and flood control, ' 16.39 crore in the energy sector, ' 16.48 crore in the industry sector, '15.23 crore in the transport sector, ' 59.01 crore in the social service sector, ' 17.07 crore in the medical and public health sector and the remaining ' 322.06 crore in other general service sectors.

The cabinet further approved to the transfer of ' 7.24 crore of the state outlay to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs as state share for the Integrated Check Posts to be constructed in the state.

In the construction of the posts, state government has to bear the expenditure to be incurred in developing infrastructures related with power supply, water supply, customs and industrial units.

A proposal for amendment of Imphal Municipality Act, 2001 coming from the law department was also approved by the cabinet, N Biren said.

Extension of service period of Max Phajang as consultant cum registrar of Gauhati High Court has also been approved, he added.

While discussing the strikes of COTA, FECTAM with reference to the HSLC and HSSLC exams, the cabinet resolved to appoint teachers on contract basis to conduct the exams as per schedule if the teachers continue with their stir.

Utilization of part time teachers in various schools and colleges, teachers of aided schools, and hiring of private school teachers were also discussed, the spokesperson said.

However, the cabinet will discus the demands of the teachers further tomorrow, he added.

Opening of two ART centres above the existing centres at RIMS and JNIMS have also been approved by the cabinet.

The two centres will be opened at Bishnupur and Senapati district hospitals.

For this, 16 senior medical officers will be appointed on contract basis, according to the spokesperson.
