Imphal, February 01: Seeking to set the record straight on the firing incident at Khoken village yesterday, PIB Defence Wing in a statement today said that an FIR has been lodged with the police and added that during interaction, the villagers revealed that on January 30, about 20 armed KNF (P) and UNLF cadres came to Khoken village.

They had dinner in the village and spent the night at the Church, it said adding that the militants were taken by surprise while having lunch the next day, when a patrol party of AR came to the village.

The militants opened fire at the troops and also fired Lathode bombs, claimed PIB and added that the villagers got injured when they were trying to take cover as the militants opened heavy firing.

The AR troops took immediate steps to provide first aid to the villagers and helped in evacuating the injured to the hospital.
