Manipur University Officers� Association has unanimously resolved to donate one day�s pay to the Prime Minister�s National Relief Fund for the tsunami victims.
The decision was taken during a general body meeting of the Association held in the Committee Room of the University with Dr Th Khomdon Singh in the chair yesterday, informed Association secretary Dr H Bilashini Devi in a statement today.
Ex-Servicemen Association, Bishnupur district has also donated a sum of Rs 3000 to Prime Minister�s National Relief Fund for the victims of tsunami disaster, informed Association secretary H Sharat Singh in a statement.
In a similar humane gesture, the Shumang Leela artistes of Sana Leipak Nachom donated a sum of Rs 10,000 earned from showing their play Nangna Luhongdrigei at Modern High School, Utlou today, for the victims of tsunami.
The amount was handed over to MLA Dr Nara and Child specialist Dr Kshetrimayum Chourjit who were presence at the occasion.
On the other hand, a sum of Rs 2,023 collected as relief aid for the victims of tsunami by NSS Unit I and II of Waikhom Mani Girls� College, Thoubal from the teachers, students, staff members of the college and public has ben reportedly handed over to State Liaison Officer, NSS Cell for onward transmission to Programme Advisor, NSS, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports through NSS Regional Centre, Guwahati.
Meanwhile, secretary of CPI(Marxist), State unit Dr Y Mahendra has informed that any person or organisation that wish to donate money to PM�s Relief Fund for the victims of tsunami may do so through the office of the party unit at Paona Bazar, Governor Road.
