The Communal Victims Relief and Resettlement Association (CVRRAM), Manipur while asserting that the Ministry of Home Affairs had already sanctioned Rs 10,000 each for 8802 families victimised by ethnic conflicts during the last decade, has urged upon the State Government to release the sanctioned amount.
A press release issued by CVRRAM informed that these families were left out from relief distribution in 1999-2000 and majority of them belong to Senapati, Sadar Hills, Ukhrul, Tamenglong and few pockets of Churachandpur and Chandel.
After re-verification process of the left out families were completed, the CVRRAM approached the Chief Secretary to release the relief fund.
But the Chief Secretary reportedly refused saying that the relief fund has already expired at it was valid up to only one year, conveyed.
Subsequently, the CVRRAM approached the Home Ministry at New Delhi in October this year.
The Home Ministry reportedly said that the State Government has been directed to release the relief fund without any delay, claimed CVRRAM while urging for immediate release of the funds in view of the pathetic plight of the victim families.
On the other hand, the CVRRAM has convened a meeting of chiefs, district and block leaders and all members at 10 am of December 3 at Hotel Imphal.
