Imphal, Jul 28: Condemning the act of killing Sungnem Premson Lamkang by 21 Assam Rifles during crossfiring with UGs on July 26 at Leingangching, Chandel, Students' Union of United College, Lambung has asserted that Premson was an innocent student of the college who has no connection whatsoever with any underground organisation.

The Union further appealed to the security forces to desist from such killing in future.

On the other hand, Chandel Naga People's Organisation has stated that the Leingangching incident in which Premson Lamkang, a student, was killed by the security forces was very unfortunate.

Taking serious note of the such senseless killing of innocent people in the name of counter insurgency operation, the organisa tion said it has become a regular affairs in Chandel district and appealed to the security forces to restrain at the maximum so that the lives of the innocents are spared.

The organisation also appealed to all armed groups to stay away from civilian population if they going around with arms.
