Imphal, May 22: The Waithou Chiru Baptist Church (Senapati district), Arapti Ebudhou Pureiromba Welfare Association (Thoubal) and Salai Apunba Nupi Lamjing Lup (Singjamei Chingamakha) have strongly condemned the arrest and detention of United People's Front (Ithai Zonal Council) secretary Laishram Premjit.

Demanding that Premjit be released without any condition, these bodies in separate statements cautioned the Government that failure to understanding simmering dissension and sentiment of the general public would lead to chaos in the society.

apart from contending that Premjit is innocent and is a dedicated individual contributing towards promotion of peace and tranquillity in the society, the bodies also expressed that such arbitrary detention of Premjit starkly reflects repressive agenda of the Government.

Premjit was arrested by a joint team of the Assam Rifles and Border Security force on May 7 on charges of having connection with a banned armed group.
