Imphal, August 21: Commonwealth Judo champion Khumukcham Tombi Devi has been selected for the prestigious Arjuna Awards for the 2007 .

Tombi is among 11 sports persons of different disciplines selected for the Award.

Kh Tombi was selected for the Arjuna Award based on the recommendations of the selection Committee headed by Milkha Singh as chairman in recognition of her outstanding achievements in international Judo championships.

Kh Tombi currently working in CRPF won gold medal in the Commonwealth Judo Championship in January this year.

Moreover, she bagged the bronze medal in the Asian Judo Championship held in Kuwait last year.

The 26 year old Judoka represented India in the ongoing Beijing Olympics.

Tombi is a daughter of Kh Munal of Mayang Imphal.
