Imphal, Jul 18:
Reacting to the news item which appeared in this paper in the July 17 issue, Tamenglong AC MLA Samuel Jendai has clarified that the allegation that he threatened a subcontractor and set on fire a work shed of the labourers was false and fabricated.
In a statement, the MLA explained that on July 15, his great aunt passed away at Lukhambi at 9 am and being the eldest of the family, it was his responsibility to conduct her funeral rituals.
"Therefore it was not possible for me to move out from my late aunt's house," claimed the MLA.
Jendai further said that the said work is being taken up under his Constituency and added that there is no work programme for the said work.
No work order has also been issued and therefore the question of contractor and the work does not arise.
The allegations were cooked up by political rivals, asserted the MLA.
