Two Liangmai women have been physically assaulted by cadres of KNF at Chalwa along IT Road on April 10, according to the Liangmai Naga Council (LNC).
The LNC information and publicity secy in a statement said that the two women from Makui village had been beaten up by KNF cadres for allegedly refusing to pay �business tax�.
The LNC said that some Liangmai women from Makui village had gone to sell bananas but the cadres of KNF demanded Rs.1000 as sale tax.
The women pleaded with the UG cadres that it would be hard for them to pay the demanded amount saying that the business of selling bananas was too small to cough up such an amount but while pleading the cadres had beaten up two of the women and one of them felt unconscious for sometime as she was hit with a thick stick on the head.
The other was hit at her stomach, stated the statement adding that the women were detained at Chalwa for 3 hours by the KNF cadres.
The women however paid Rs 500 to the KNF cadres, it added.
The two women are identified as one D.Chalanliu w/o D.Hungambou and W.Kachialungliu w/o Kadidinbou, both from Makui village.
