Imphal, January 13: Taking strong exception to the failure of any organisation/group to claim and clarify the killing of Mongsatabam Bharatngamba till today, the JAC constituted in connection with the killing has warned of strong agitation in case the concerned group/party fails to clarify on the killing before the shrada ceremony of the deceased.

A statement issued by the JAC recalled that some unidentified persons who came in an auto-rickshaw tried to abduct Yurembam Inao (James) s/o Y Ibocha who belonged to the same locality as Bharatngamba.

As Inao was afraid to go alone, he asked Bharatngamba to accompany him.

Conceding to the request of his friend, Bharatngamba went along.

The unidentified gunmen led Inao and Bhartangamba to a river bank of the locality where Inao was shot with a small arm.

Fortunately, the pistol misfired.

Then Inao somehow managed to escape from the hands of the gunmen and informed of the incident to the people of his locality.

Then he fled away.

On the other hand, the unidentified gunmen took away Bharatngamba on a two wheeler towards Sangaiprou.

After taking off his jacket, mobile phone and wallet, Bharatngamba was mercilessly shot dead, retold the JAC.

As Yurembam Inao has been absconding, the JAC was constituted today to unearth the truth behind the murder, clarified the statement.
