Imphal, September 09 2011:
Lack of necessary infrastructures and other basic facilities at Langjing Achouba Parking have created lot of inconveniences to the trucks drivers engaged for ferrying essential goods under FCI.
Addressing a press conference in this connection here today, president of United Committee NH-37 Sama Khabanganba pointed out that there is no facilities for electricity, water and sanitation at parking lot of Langjing Achouba.
These are some of the basic facilities that are expected in any parking lot.
But the absence of these facilities have created lot of problems to the truck drivers when they return to take rest after the day's hard work.
Moreover, the waiting shed is dilapidated and there is no toilet facility.
There is not even a chowkidar to look after the parking complex, Khabanganba informed.
He further informed that there is no proper parking space in the FCI godown complex at Jiribam.
This led to frequent tussle between the local people and the truck drivers when they parked their trucks at Dibong Awang Leikai, Kadamtala, etc.
Khabanganba appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter and provide necessary parking facilities to the truck drivers, who have been dedicating themselves to the service of ferrying essential goods for the public against all odds.
