Imphal, October 08 2025:
Social activist Shanjoy Ahanthem on Wednesday appealed to the State Government to take immediate steps to release the amounts owed to the private hospitals so that Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) patients can continue their treatment without disruption.
Speaking to the media, Shanjoy expressed concern over the recent announcement made by the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI), Manipur State Chapter that treatment of CMHT and PMJAY card holders will be charged fees from November 6 if the amounts indebted to the Government under CMHT and PMJAY are not cleared.
He asserted the decision taken by the 43 private hospitals and diagnostic centres affiliated to the AHPI Manipur State Chapter will significantly impact the poor patients who rely on the schemes for critical services, such as free hemodialysis sessions.
Highlighting that CMHT and PMJAY are crucial health insurance schemes that offer cashless treatment for poor and vulnerable families, Shanjoy said, "If the State Government fails to clear the dues, thousands of poor and vulnerable patients risk losing access to cashless medical care at private facilities".
Furthermore, Shanjoy urged the State Government to take immediate steps to address the urgent financial demands of the AHPI Manipur State Chapter to prevent a major healthcare crisis and ensure continued access to quality treatment for poor patients.
