Imphal, May 03:
Setting the pace for amalgamation of Federal party of Manipur (FPM), Democratic Revolutionary People's Party (DRPP) and Manipur People's Party (MPP) under a single entity the trio's first general political convention has been convened on May 7 at GM Hall.
The convention is informed to be an outcome of an initial arrangement sorted out between leaders of the three regional political organisations in an earlier meeting.
according to a member of the preparatory committee formed to chalk out processes for amalgamation of the different political entities, the May 7 congregation would discuss the prevailing political scenario and on sponsoring common candidate for the Imphal Municipal Council election slated for May 30.Explaining on the IMC candidate sponsorship, the preparatory committee member presumed that due to time constraint christening the new combined political outfit would be highly improbable and as such the May 7 conference might be restricted to deliberation on supporting independent candidates.
He, nevertheless, asserted that process to strengthen the regional political force at the grassroots level is progressing favourably.
Regarding the internal wrangling within the MPP organisation, the member confided that the committee would not relent from its task of solving existing differences which is essential to not only pave the way for the political unity aspiration but is a crucial factor for its success.
