Imphal, January 31: The 6th Maichou Ningshing Thou-ram has been organised under the aegis of Cultural Preservation Centre at GM Hall here today.

Noted Maichous (scholars) and artistes in the field of Manipuri culture were honoured with award during the function.

Mongjam Khoidum (98) of Yourabung Mayai Lei-kai, Irom Kullachandra Me- etei (95) of Kongpal Kong-kham Leikai, Rajo Taiching (91) of Kasom Khullen, Ukhrul district are among the scholars who have been felicitated while the noted personalities in the field of culture who have been honoured include Ngairang- bam Moirang Ningthou of Pibarel Pokpa Shanglen, Kangjengbam Nilla Meetei (Meetei Eshei), Th Ibohal Meetei (Arangpham), Iru-ngbam Tombi Meetei (Mu- sical instruments), Laish-ram Ibotombi Meetei ( Cooking), Laishram Jarmo Meetei ( Lairik Haiba) and Wahengbam Khero Meetei (cultural revivalism).

Many social activists were also honoured at the occasion graced by advisor of Culture Preservation Centre Khuman Leima as chief guest and principal of Standard Robarth English School Ph Landhoni Devi as functional president.
