Imphal, June 14:
Taking serious not of poor performance of Government schools in the HSLC examination the result of which was announced day before yesterday, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has come down heavily on the Minister and officials concerned of the Education Department for their alleged inefficiency and lack of dedication and sincerity in rendering their services towards improvement of standard of education in Government schools.
It is of deep concern that none of the students from the Government schools could feature among the position holders despite the fact that the teachers working in these schools are far more experience than their counterparts working in private schools, organization secretary of the students' body Senjam Chingthangkhomba Singh said in a statement.
He pointed out that the amount of salary getting by a Government school teacher or an official working in the State Education Department could easily pay four months salaries of a teacher working in a private school, yet they fail to deliver the goods.
This only shows that they have failed in their duties and if they have conscience, they should resign from their respective posts, MSF asserted.
It is because of them that the standard of education in the Government Schools has deteriorated over the last few decades, and it is now comparable to a fruitless and drying tree, MSF blamed.
Just as former Railway Minister Nitish Kumar had resigned from his post owning moral responsibility for a train mishap last year, it would be more honourably for the Education Minister to step down after pulling up the irresponsible officials of his department, MSF demanded.
It is high time that the Minister and the officials concerned of the State Education Department also put on their thinking caps and take a serious view of the matter and put their acts together for improving the standard of education in the Government, the students' body further noted.
Merit award: By way of giving encouragement, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Lilong Branch would be presenting merit award to all those students who passed HSSLC and HSLC examination, 2004 in first division from Lilong Centre (B) during a function to be held at Abdul Ali High Madrassa on June 28.The branch has also congratulated Md Mujibur Rahman who topped in the class X examination, 2004 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi for the whole of North Eastern Region.
