Imphal, November 08:
With the ravaged Passenger Reservation System (PRS) also known locally as Railway Reservation Counter at the MSRTC Complex officially re-commissioned today the State Government is actively mulling extending such facilities to other districts of the State.
A simple inauguration function of the newly constructed PRS block marked the official re-commissioning of the reservation counter which was reduced to rubble in an inferno during the turbulent Meetei Mayek agitation period.
The counter office block was set on fire by suspected script agitators in the intervening night of April 23-24 this year.
The re-inauguration function was held with Transport Minister Phungzathang Tonsing and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam as the chief guest and president respectively.
Divisional Manager of North Frontier Railway, Lumding MS Sharma and Manitron Chairman Bijoy Koijam graced the occasion as guests of honour.
Expressing elation that reopening of the reservation counter would enable the general public in easy confirmation and procuring of train tickets after such facilities were abruptly denied due to the devastating inferno, Phungzathang Tonsing prevailed upon all the organisations to refrain actions that could inconvenience the general public while calling upon the masses to protect structures of public importance.
