SFs call it a day with six arrest

Imphal, May 28 2013: Five undergrounds and a drug peddler were arrested by security forces in the State during the last 48 hours from different places of the State.

A combined team of Imphal East commandos, Irilbung police personnel and troops of 40 AR arrested a PREPAK cadre from Arapti Thongkhong on May 27 around 8.5am.Identifying the the cadre as Md Askar Ali alias Aktar (19) s/o Md Tayeb Ali of Moreh Ward No 5 Mayai Leikai and presently staying at Lilong Tairen Makhong, a statement issued by Imphal East SP said three demand letters signed by one SS Finance Secy, P Chinglen Meitei and addressed to Idea company, Airtel company, Aircel company and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession.

The same day at around 9.15am, another PREPAK cadre identified as Ningthoujam Indramani Singh alias Gandhi (47) s/o (L) N Ibohal Singh of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai was also arrested from his locality.

He confessed that he joined the outfit in February this year through one Deven of the outfit and were involved in extortion from general public, Govt officials, private firms, etc, the statement said.

Another PREPAK cadre was arrested by a team of Imphal East commandos and 16 AR from Keibi Taretkhul Thongkhong the same day around 8.30am.The cadre has been identified as Khundrakpam Thoiba Singh alias Tolen (40) s/o Kh Ibochou of Nongshum Khamenlok Makha Leikai.

Police statement said one 7.65 mm pistol along with two live rounds was recovered from him.

He is said to have joined the the PREPAK (VC) through one SS 2nd Lt Lanngamba alias Bohen of Nongshum Awang Leikai in 2010.He is presently working under the command of Lanngamba alias Bohen and involved in extortion of money from public, officials, private firms and transportation of arms and ammunition from place to place, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, a team of Imphal West district police commandos arrested a KYKL activist namely Leihaorungbam Saratchandra alias Ibungochouba Singh (35) s/o (L) L Ibohal of Top Awang Leikai from RIMS, Lamphel area yesterday around 4.50pm, informed Imphal West police statement.

In an unrelated incident, Thoubal district police commandos arrested a KYKL identified as Md Sarif Ali alias Maqbul s/o Md Keramat Ali of Yairipok Ningthoumai Makha Leikai yesterday around 8.5am.Meanwhile, 62 loose SP capsules marked as SPM-PRM WOCKHARDT were recovered from the possession of one Md Manal (23) s/o (L) Md Matalip of Shikhong Thongthabi from Pechi tri-Junction at around 9.30pm yesterday by the Thoubal district police commandos as part of its special drive against illicit drug traffickers, said a statement issued by Thoubal SP.
