After launching the Scheme of Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) by the Government of India in the year 1998-99, it has accelerated the development of infrastructure in different sectors in the NorthEastern Region.
There was only 20 projects approved for Manipur prior to the installation of the SPF Government led by O.Ibobi Singh.
After the installation of the SPF Government on March 7, 2002 and with its initiative, another 43 projects could be sanctioned by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) for development of Manipur during the last five years.
Altogether 63 projects with the approved cost of Rs.557.59 crore had so far been sanctioned for Manipur under the Scheme.
Sources from the Ministry of DoNER said 16 NLCPR projects with the approved cost of Rs.170.66 crore for Manipur had so far been completed and another 41 projects were on the line of completion as on 30th September this year.
Out of 16 projects, seven projects were completed prior to the installation of the present SPF Government and the rest were completed during the tenure of the present Govern ment.
The projects completed during the tenure of the present government were - Restoration of Manipur Legislative Assembly, CM Secretariat Building Complex and Speaker�s Bungalow and annexe costing Rs.1.60 crore, Construction of two classrooms for 205 schools without building (Rs.1.60 crore), Installation of 2x5 MVA Sub-station at Moreh Town (Rs.4.60 crore), Extension of two class rooms for 172 State Government Secondary Schools (Rs.8.60 crore), Extension of two class rooms for the State Government Secondary Schools including 21 newly upgraded Higher Secondary Schools ( Rs.2.15 crore), ST & D � 2x1 MVA Sub-Station at Saikul (Rs.1.49 crore ), ST & D � 33 KV DC line from Yurembam to Mongsangei (Rs 1.72 crore), Leimakhong Heavy Fuel Based Power Project (Rs.117.61 crore) and Augmentation of Water Supply for Ukhrul District Headquarters (Rs.5.29 crore).
Projects completed prior to the present government were � Construction of 156 houses for tribal families in 4 districts of Manipur (Rs.0.25 crore), Construction of rural shelters for 628 tribal families in 6 districts of Manipur (Rs.0.40 crore), Rural Water Supply in 512 habitation villages in 9 districts (Rs.7.00 crore), Construction of 14 primary Health Sub centres (Rs.5.92 crore), Construction of classrooms for 40 primary Schools for universalisation Primary Education under District Council (Rs.1.18 crore), Construction of classrooms of 32 primary Schools for universalisation Primary Education ( Rs.1.25 crore) and Infrastructural development for National Games (Rs. 10 crore).
