Acting on a complaint filed by secretary of Mayai Lambi Sports Academy Khaidem Gunamani Meitei in connection with the failure of Superintendent of Police, Imphal West to register an FIR case against MLA Mayang Imphal A/C Meinam Nilachandra for misusing MLA Local Area Development Fund, the Manipur Human Rights Commission has sought a detailed report from the DGP by February 26.A statement issued by MHRC conveyed that as per the complaint submitted by Gunamani, MLA M Nilachandra had assured to provide Rs 2 lakhs from his MLAD Fund towards construction of Khuman Community hall on September 24 last year during the felicitation ceremony of Arjuna awardee A Anita Chanu.
After the MLA failed to keep his assurance despite repeated reminders and appeals, it came to the knowledge of complainant that the Deputy Commissioner Imphal West has sanctioned Rs 1 lakh for construction of the above mentioned community hall.
Later it was learnt that the said amount was withdrawn by some individuals in the name of fictitious beneficiary committee in collusion with MLA M Nilachandra and some officials of the Dept concerned, mentioned the wri tten complaint.
As such the amount withdrawn was misused.
Peeved with the misuse of public money, the complainant submitted a written complaint to the SP Imphal West on January 15 to take up necessary legal action by registering an FIR case against the misuse of the MLAD Fund.
However, police has been refusing to register any FIR case in response to the complaint, it asserted.
