Imphal, December 24: With the objective of developing pisciculture activities in the state an organisation christened Fishery Development Foundation, manipur was inaugurated at ideal Academy, Kumbi Bazar yesterday with noted economist Prof N Mohendro Singh, educationist Khangembam Iboton Singh and Laishram Gourabidhu Singh (teachers) as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively, said a release.

The purpose of setting up the Foundation is said to be for augmenting fish production in the State to narrow down the production and consumption disparity by the end of 2011 and was attended by more than 80 fish farmers during the inauguration programme wherein a five year pilot project was also launched for intensive as well as extensive pisciculture activities.

Consequently the inaugural day also saw appointment of Kh Iboton of Kumbi as president of the Foundation's 10 member office bearers.
