Leaking at newly constructed SDC office

Imphal, August 24: Even as the authority concerned were rolling up their sleeves to inaugurate the newly constructed SDC office at Sagolmang under Lamshang Assembly Constituency, the roof of the office has started leaking.

Speaking to reporters the infuriated public of Sagolmang said that construction work of the office started amid much fanfare in January 2006 and was completed in April this year.

However even before the office could be inaugurated, the roof had developed leaks, making the staff impossible to work inside the office.

The local people further said that the tinned roof building not only started leaking but cracks have appeared on the walls as well as on the floor.

Even the toilet attached to the room of the SDC has technically failed, they contended and added that a fresh construction is needed.

The SDC posted at Sagolmang said that since the office is yet to be inaugurated he and the staff are functioning from a rented house at Sagolmang bazar.

The officer added that the rent has not been paid since June 2, 2003 and the owner of the place has started pressurising them to move to a different place.
