Pharmacists stage Wakat Meepham

Imphal, May 21: All the pharmacists around RIMS Hospital closed their medical stores today and staged a Wakat Meepham to protest the action of the IRB personnel on four staff of Dolly Pharmacy located near RIMS Gate.

The IRB personnel had alleged assaulted the four staff after a scooter dashed on the car carrying the wife of police officer yesterday.

The agitators demanded suspension of the IRB personnel involved in the incident from service, public apology as well as action against the wife of the police officer.

The protestors further demanded that the medical expenditure incurred on treating the injured persons should be bore by the Government.

As the Governmentt has failed to listen to the demands, the agitators have also warned of shutting down all the chemist shops from tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Manipur Chemist and Druggists Association (MCDA) has announced that the all the pharmacists in Manipur would remain closed with effect from Tuesday if the matter has not been resolved by Monday.
