Imphal, June 20 2009:
Now four months old, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Dr Th Kishan, Y Token and A Rajen has expressed its indebtedness to all organisations and individuals who extended whole hearted support to its endeavours.
Personal threats by non-state players could not have been taken lightly but the worse was character assassination of JAC members by the State political parties, conveyed the JAC in a press release.
While responding to the PIL filed at Gauhati High Court praying mainly for directing the concerned respondent for investigation of the crime, Deputy Secretary (Home) Th Amal Kumar in his counter affidavit submitted to the Court reportedly remarked that the petitioners were 'persons seeking publicity' and the petition 'does not involve public interest'.
The recent tirade and outburst against the JAC by a senior politician of NCP was weird, unexpected and defied all logic.
Being the leader of a losing party in the last elections, he has all the right to play blame game but his rage and vendetta directed towards a voluntary organisation like the JAC was uncalled for.
Yet, the JAC has taken in its stride all the brickbats and it will survive all such tirades to continue with its non-violent democratic struggle with full conviction.
