Based on specific information, troops of 23 and 32 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in general area of Bashikhong and apprehended five PREPAK cadres today.
According to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles, the arrested PREPAK cadres have been identified as Koijam Pishak Meitei (43) s/o Donga Meitei of Bashikhong Panthoibi Bazar, Athokpam Loken Singh (43) s/o late A Mani Singh of Bashikhong Irong, Y Kiran Singh (32) s/o Y Pishakhong Singh of Thoudam Marak Chingtham Leikai, Lourembam Rajen Singh (35) s/o late L Ibohal Singh of Lourembam Leikai Thoudam Marak and Saibam Ibotombi Meitei (39( of Bashikhong.
One 9 mm pistol and four live rounds of 9 mm have been recovered from the possession of the arrested cadres, the PRO informed.
The PRO further informed that in another incident, troops of 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) established mobile check post in track between Langol and Khunbi and apprehended one PLA cadre today.
Identifying the arrested cadre as M Dilip Singh (41) of Langathel, Thoubal, the PRO informed that on initial interrogation, the individual has revealed being an active cadre of PLA and operating in general area of Langathel for the last 10 years.
He acted as guide for armed PLA cadres and provided them information of security forces movement and arranged support whenever required.
The arrested individual has been handed over to Kakching Police Station, the PRO added.
On the other hand, Imphal East Police Commandos have reportedly arrested one cadre of the proscribed KCP (Lamphel) outfit from Khurai near Popular High School at around 5.30 am of October 16 .
According to a delayed statement issued by SP of Imphal East District Th Radheshyam, the arrested cadre has been identified as Ahanthem Ajay Kumar Singh alias Barnol (26) s/o late A Shyamohan Singh of Sawombung College gate.
On verification, Ajay Kumar disclosed that he joined KCP (Lamphel) organisation in October 2008 through one Leishemba Luwang of Kakching Bazar and was involved in extortion of money from the general public, Government officials and businessmen.
