Imphal, September 16 2025:
The Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) has sought public support in view of the upcoming September 18 hearing at the High Court of Manipur in connection with its petition seeking airfare concession for Meiteis until free movement is allowed along the National Highways.
A press release issued by KKL stated that the petition was filed on December 16, 2024 after its appeals to the State and Central authorities as well as the Manipur Human Rights Commission last year did not bear any positive results.
It also pointed out that since the outbreak of violence on May 3, 2023, the only avenue of transport available to the Meitei community to travel outside the State has been through air flights, which are costly.
KKL said that the final judgement in case of the 9-month old petition has still not been delivered.
Accusing the Court of delaying the judgement, KKL questioned the use of being an Indian citizen when seeking one's constitutional rights is met with such hurdles and indifference.
In this regard, KKL has sought the help of the public to bring the matter to the Centre's attention.
KKL has urged the people to collectively raise their voice and help deliver fair final judgement at the next hearing scheduled on September 18 .
