Contending that its complaint lodged on August 11, 2008 at the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Ukhrul) has failed to evoked any positive response from the authorities concerned till date, the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) has said it launched democratic agitation with immediate effect.
As a part of the agitation, TMNL and Tangkhul Youth Council will organise a daylong public discourse on the Public Distribution System (PDS) on September 19 at the Town Hall from 10.30 am.
The TMNL complaint, according to a release issued today, concerns non-release of PDS rice for April this year, and exorbitant increase in prices of AAY, BPL and APL rice respectively from the previous rate of Rs 300 per quintal, Rs 565 and Rs 850 .
