The order issued by the Chief Information Commissioner for conducting assessment of the properties owned by the officials in the rank of IAS and IPS in the State has been stayed by the Gauhati High Court.
A single bench of the Justice Maibam Binoykumar on Nov 14 stayed the order of the Chief Information Commissioner issued on June 3 last in connection with the complaint case no.44 of 2008 filed undr RTI Act by former programme co-ordinator of Centre for Organisation Research and Education (CORE) for property assessment of the AIS and IPF officers in the State.
On behalf of the State Advocate S Napolean had fought the case while Advocate Paikhomba for the petitioner.
After hearing both sides, Justice Maibam Binoykumar stayed the order until further order.
