The 28th foundation anniversary of the daily paper Toknga was celebrated today at its office at Paona Keithel.
The celebration was graced by Director of JN Manipuri Dance Academy Yambem Laba and HERICOUN president Renghang Chothe as chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, editor of the Mannaba K Shyam recalled the development of Toknga from the days of letter press when Thokchom Phalendra was the editor to the present stage of offset printers.
Shyam noted that media's accessibility has been increasing day by day in Manipur.
Toknga editor Soubam Rajendra Kumar highlighted the vision and principle of late Phalendra who founded the Toknga.
Noting that the technology being used by the newspaper establishments of the State is comparable to modern technologies used elsewhere in the country, Yambem Laba remarked that the mainstay of media in Manipur is the indomitable spirit of the media persons.
He said that journalism is a profession with a mission.
One minute silence was observed by all those who attended the function in honour of the founder of the Toknga Phalendra.
