As a consequence of the drought experienced during the month of June, no food grain has been reportedly harvested in Kangkum village of Ukhrul district this year.
According to a statement issued by Chief/Khullakpa of Kangkum village S Peter, situated in the extreme corner of Ukhrul South sub-divisions (Kasom Khullen) near the border of Myanmar, the village comprising 60 houses has not harves-ted any food grain this year as a result of the drought experienced in the month of June last.
The villagers are worried over the total failure of jhumming cultivation this year, the village chief said, while drawing the attention of all concerned for taking up necessary remedial measures in this regard.
