Volunteers of HERICOUN who called on Chief Engineer, Department of Electricity to discuss the crippling effect of power shortage in JN Hospital were reportedly snubbed by the officer.
The CE not only cold shouldered the HERICOUN volunteers but also shut the door to the visitors.
Speaking to reporters today, secretary organisation of HERICOUN Sumitkumar Khuman said that many wards in JN Hospital have been without electricity for the last few years, many medical equipment have been rendered defunct because of power shortage and no surgical operations could be performed on time.
To highlight such crippling effect of power shortage in JN Hospital to the Chief Engineer, HERICOUN volunteers went to Electricity Department on February 6. In spite of repeated of requests, the CE remained shut up in his chamber saying that he could not entertain any visitor at the time.
After waiting for about an hour, the volunteers went to the office of Additional Chief Engineer.
The HERICOUN volunteers were then instructed by Addl CE I to go to Addl CE II.
On the instruction of Addl CE II, the volunteers called on SE.
The SE then informed the volunteers that an Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer and a Section Officer are responsible for the power supply to JN Hospital, conveyed Sumitkumar.
Later the HERICOUN volunteers urged the officials concerned to connect the electricity line of JN Hospital to the VIP line and to ensure regular power supply to the hospital at the earliest, he informed.
Terming the conduct of the Head of Department as bereft of any etiquette, HERICOUN condemned such irresponsible attitude of the Chief Engineer.
Appealing to all concern to take care of such irresponsible behaviour in future, it also asked not to repeat such uncouth conduct ever again.
