UNLF admits to casualties

Imphal, June 14: Heavy fighting between the Indian Army and MPA (armed wing of UNLF) at Holijang Village under Chandel dist has claimed the lives of two MPA cadres.

In a statement, UNLF assistant secretary (Publicity) said that the encounter occurred when the Indian army numbering about 100 came face to face with a patrol party of the MPA while trying to sneak into the base area of the UNLF.

The encounter continued for about one and half hour resulting in the death of two MPA cadres identified as Sgt Maj Naorem Loktak Ngaakpa alias Rama s/o N Kiran of Chairel Makha Leikai (army No 373) and Pte Yaikhom Luplen alias Robertson s/o Y Bihoy of Khurai Lamlong Bazar (army No 1523).
