A Telephone Adalat of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Manipur Secondary Switching Area (SSA) held at its office in Imphal today settled eight of nine complaint cases of excess billing and non-delivery of telephone bills.
The telephone adalat was held with general manager Haridasan in the chair as its chairman.
D.E.(Internal) SM Singh and many other staffs of the BSNL took part in the adalat.
After examining the reports as well as records against the complaints of the telephone subscribers, the Adalat chairman settled the cases giving rebates ranging upto fifty per cent of the billed amounts and waiving of surcharge amount, a telephone subscriber informed the press.
The complainants who appeared before the adalat are Sanasam Rosindro of Irengbam Makha Leikai, S.Bhatia of Babupara, Swarupchand Jain of Thangal Bazar, Kh Bisharat, Dr.Th.Premchand of Keishampat Aheibam Leikai, A Joykumar of Khabam Lamkhai Makha Leikai, Oinam Mangi of Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai, S.Sumati of North AOC and M.Tomba of Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai.Except the complaint of excess billing by S Sumati and Oinam Mangi, all the other complaints were settled by giving different amounts of rebates and waiving of surcharge.
The adalat decided to investigate further into the case of Sumati, the source said.
Today's sitting of the telephone adalat was scheduled to begin from 10.30 am.
Most of the subscribers who raised complaints came to attend the adalat before the scheduled time.
However, they suffered a lot while awaiting Haridasan to begin the adalat, the source further informed.
The subscribers were surprise to see general man-ager Haridasan using abusive languages against his subordinate staffs while the adalat was in full progress with himself as chairman.Some of the subscribers who spoke to this reporter feel that Haridasan is responsible for the presently irregular telephone service in the state.
