Imphal, November 19: The one day awareness programme cum workshop on the theme �Quality Assurance in Higher Education - Assessment and Accreditation� organised by Manipur university was held at the Senate Hall of the University�s Earth Science Department today.

Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa and MU Vice Chancellor Prof N Bijoy graced the inaugural programme as the chief guest and functional president respectively while Higher Education Commissioner SK Dev Burman, Academic Consultant of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) BR Manjunath and Prof N Lokendra attended the session as guests of honour.

Presenting the key note address, BR Manjunath expressing satisfaction at the progress of North Eastern region States in general in the Accreditation arena however desired that much need to be done in the State wise performance context.

He also informed of existence of 196 accredited higher education institutions and eight universities spread across the eight North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim and Mizoram till September 21, 2005.
