Imphal, October 30:
Asserting that the rationing agents of Tamei, Tousem, Tamenglong and Nungba blocks have failed to deliver even a quantal of rice under AAY scheme since March last year despite the district has been facing scarcity of food grains for the last four years, the Nungba Area Village Authority Association has pleaded the FCS Minister, the Chief Secretary and all concerned officials to look into the grievances of the people.
A statement issued by the Association informed that the rice production this year has gone down below the subsistence level due to rodent menace following widespread bamboo flowering, devouring of crops by wild pigs and lashing by hailstorm just in the middle of harvesting season.
Reiterating its appeal to look into the gross malpractices perpetrated by the ration agents, the Village Authority Association pleaded the FCS Minister, the Chief Secretary and the concerned officials to ensure availability of due rice quotas to the deserving BPL families of Tamenglong district at the earliest.
