Imphal, May 25:
To protest the failure of the Government to cancel the appointment of non-local candidates as primary teachers in the North Autonomous District Council, Senapati, the Senapati District Students' Assn has decided to impose an indefinite economic blockade on NH-39 from midnight of May 27.In a statement, SDSA said that though an ultimatum was served on May 22 to cancel the appointments of the non-local candidates nothing was done.
Unless the authority redresses the grievances of the student body, there will be no backtracking, said SDSA and added that the authority should be held responsible for any untoward incident during the blockade.
