Imphal, Jul 24: The Manipur University would open five year integrated courses on MSc Bio-technology and Master of Physical Education from the next academic session.

This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of MU Prof Chabungbam Amuba while talking with The Sangai Express.

He said all arrangements have been made to open the two faculties in the University adding that required faculty members would also be appointed through proper channel soon.

Observing that the two faculties are still fresh in the region, the VC said that the students would be highly privileged to study the new faculties.

Earlier this year, the Departments of Journalism and Manipuri Dance were included in the list of courses offered by the varsity.

On the other hand, the proposed visit of President APJ Abdul Kalam to join the 10th convocation of Manipur University is likely to be cancelled according to the message received by the Governor who is also the Chancellor of MU, conveying the President's inability to make the trip in near future , disclosed VC Amuba.

Nevertheless, the President conveyed his willingness to join the convocation some time in October or November this year, mentioned the VC.

The Academic Council of MU would discuss the matter in its next meeting to fix the date for the 10th convocation ceremony and decide on the dignitary to preside the ceremony if the same is to be held before October, informed Amuba.

He said that some senior academicians of the varsity have already proposed the names of Union HRD Minister and DoNER Minister for the forthcoming convocation.
