Imphal, May 22:
Reiterating its opposition to the departmental inquiry report in connection with the controversial death of one Shamjetsabam Premila in the maternity ward of RIMS Hospital, the JAC Against the Suspicious Death of Sh Premila has threatened to launch more intense agitation during which violent action could not be ruled out, said a JAC release.
Alleging that State Government and RIMS authorities have been mischievously scheming to negate JAC's insistence for a judicial probe into the incident, the body also dismissed finding of the departmental probe as mere eyewash and cover-up exercise.
Explaining on its contention, the JAC said all previous departmental inquiries initiated by the RIMS authority had been one-sided that failed to fix responsibility thereby reducing the very purpose of setting up probe into an exercise of futility and delaying tactics.
Such repeated clean chit to medical personnel of the hospital could not be accepted under any circumstance and sincerity of authorities concerned by endorsing a judicial probe to maintain transparency and for justice's sake, the JAC maintained.
The body served an ultimatum of seven days to the State and RIMS authorities to do the needful failing which agitation on wider scale and of greater magnitude would be launched.
