Tamenglong, February 19, 2010: The police report that one AR personnel was hurt in a gunbattle between insurgents and a combined team of Imphal West police commandos and 28 AR at Ngariyan Tera Warok on Imphal-Yairipok road around 5.25 pm of February 17 is absolutely false, it was a deceit to the people in an attempt to cover up their guilt, GM Changjou, Chief, Department of Publicity, Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) stated today.

In a press release, the proscribed RPF clarified that after arrest, Lt Krishna was brought to be killed in a fake encounter on that day.

But he escaped, and the Manipur police commandos opened fire in order to arrest him.

The personnel of 28 AR sustained injury in the firing.

There was no gunbattle at all on that day, the press release stated.

It said that Lt Krishna of Auxiliary Command of PLA was arrested by a team led by Imphal West police commandos from Napet Palli around 1 pm of that day while he was returning after a visit for his treatment.

After interrogation, the team of Manipur police commandos brought him to Ngariyan Tera Warok with an intention to kill him.

While preparing to kill him, Lt Krishna escaped from their clutch.

Now Lt Krishna has arrived at the camp safely, the press release informed.

It said, the incident of Lt Krishna's escape has become a living example of how Manipur police commandos and their sidekicks Assam Rifles kill a person after arrest in a fake encounter.

The incident has exposed their guise.

The press release further pointed out that since the day RPF had signed Common Article 3 of Geneva Convention, the party has never indulged in killing, torture or ill-treatment of a single enemy in their custody.

Besides, even when taken full control of unarmed enemy soldiers, the RPF, abiding by the Convention, had released them safely.

But what is most shameful before the world is that India, which had become a signatory to the Geneva Convention much earlier than RPF, does not abide by the byelaws of the Convention, despite India's claim that she will follow the rules of the Convention.

This is quite clear, it said.

Instead of taking an arrested person to court for trial, taking him to a secluded place and in the dark without anyone's knowledge to do away with him is a flagrant violation of the Internation Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and also her own country's laws, the press release pointed out.

This clearly shows that though India claims that it is a democratic country, which is trying to usher in peace in the world is in fact a country that disrespects other country's freedom and violates world peace, the press release charged.

This is not the first time that they indulge in such activities, the RPF said and appealed to the people to be always on the alert to fight such excesses of Manipur police commandos and IOF.
