Tamenglong, February 18, 2010: With aiming mass participation in 175th anniversary of Assam Rifles the 11 Battalion of Assam Rifle posted at Tamenglong is organizing different types of competitions in the district.

175th Anniversary of AR to be celebrates here at Tamenglong district HQs with great pomp and show.

While disclosing to this reporter the spoke person of 11 Assam Rifle said that in view of 175 Anniversary of Assam Rifles the 11 Bn AR is organizing district level football tournament for football lovers.

The football match will be started from village level where the unit out post is open.

The quarter, semi final and final match will be held at Tamenglong District HQs, the source said.

In the rare programme the 11 AR is getting ready to sent students excursion to Delhi and Agra on next month March.

As many as 14 students with four teachers from five schools including Christian Grammar school, United Builders School, Don Bosco School, Trinity Public School and Savio English School were selected for the excursion.

The excursion team will be flag off at the state capital, Imphal on 15 March, the source said.

The team will be visiting some important places like Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Lotus Temple, India Gate, National institution of fashion, Raj Bhavan, Modernize Theater, metros train station, shopping in Delhi, Taj Mahal and Modern Military technology.

All the expense will be bear by the 11 Assam Rifles, the source said.

The spokesman further said debate competition for school children residing in Tamenglong district may join.

Folk song and dance competitions for cultural troupes, Run for peace for general public of Tamenglong district and cultural and creativity for local people will be also held in Tamenglong district HQs in view of the anniversary, the source said.

Inviting the schools and institutions to take part in debate competition, the spokesman also appealed the general public of Tamenglong to give full cooperation and take part in every field of competitions adding that the exiting prizes for every field of competitions with consolation and for participant are awaited.
