The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), the apex body of the Tangkhul students today urged the State Government and all concerned authorities to redress the deplorable and pathetic conditions of Ukhrul district headquarters in almost all the developmental fronts immediately keeping in view of the impending mega event of TKS celebration of its 75th anniversary which is scheduled to be hosted at Ukhrul between December 14 and 17 in public interest and �to avoid undesirable confrontation� coming out from the State Govt�s alleged apathy.
TKS president PR Jordan, urged the State Government and concerned Department to immediately initiate and implement developmental works that have been denied for long in Ukhrul district headquarters.
The Tangkhul students also urged for immediate repairing of the Ukhrul town main road, which is lying unfit for both pedestrians and vehicular movements although it has been included in work programmes.
It further demanded repairing of the only alternate road, Ukhrul town circular road.
It said, being included in the work programme, such vital road for ferrying of patients from the congested main town road needs repairing immediately.
While urging for immediate restoration of regular supply of electricity and mending of street lighting system which has not been functioning since a decade and also restoration of colony-wise transformers.
The Tangkhul students� body also demanded construction of sanitation system and improvement of water supply system at Ukhrul town.
The TKS then said that having expressed through different forms of democratic means, it once again drew the attention of the State Government to immediately give attention to the above cited points for ful-fillment of the rights which belong to the people.
It also urged the State Government authorities to implement the demands before the TKS mega event in the interest of all to avoid �undesirable confrontation�.
The TKS was founded by late Major Bob Khathing, MBE way back in 1932 and it is celebrating its 75th years of existence from December 14 till 17, 2007 at Ukhrul Hqs.
