Imphal, April 15: Nungba Citizens' Council (NCC) has urged the State Government for expediting the process of construction of the proposed Loktak Down Stream HE Power Project at Tousang Khunao in Nungba Sub-division of Tamenglong district in accordance to the agreement signed with NHPC at the earliest possible.

While pointing out at numerous memoranda have been already submitted to the Government through the Governor, the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary in this regard, the Council has also warned of taking recourse to agitation along with the support of various other social organisation if the Government fails to give a positive response to this demand.

The Council further urged the Government to compensate for having dismantled more than 10 houses, football playground and cutting down of orange plantation in connection with construction of a helipad at Thangal (Longjang) village during the visit of the Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to lay the foundation stone of the project in the last part of December 2006.
