The three-day long 29th State level science exhibition for children organised by State Education Department since November 12 concluded at Bengali High School here today.
The valedictory function was attended by Pro Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University Proif H Nandakumar Sarma and Director of Education (S), Government of Manipur M Harekrishna as chief guest and president respectively
Presenting the report of the exhibition, Science Promotion Officer, Directorate of Education (S) L Viramani Singh said that this year, the exhibition was lot more better than in previous years.
He said that in this year he witnessed varied skills and productivity from among the young students which was so touching encouraging.
Apart from the exhibition, organising of seminar, quiz competition, magic show and social gathering ith games, songs and joke were some other major attractions of 29th edition of the exhibition, he said.
In his presidential address, Harekrishna observed that the skills and the endeavour of the students witnessed during the exhibition were indeed overwhelming so much so that the young participants made such a commendable work with latest models and innovative minds.
He congratulated all the participants to keep up with their good works so that one day their skills and talents could lead them to new and wider horizon.
The name of the winners of the written science quiz as well as oral quiz contest that have been conducted as part of the exhibition were also announced and prizes distributed at the occasion.
Super Luwang, a class XII Science student of Brighter Academy, Imphal won the first prize of the written quiz contest while the 2nd and the 3rd prizes were respectively clinched by Kapuipii Paul of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Senapati and N Thanggousin Vaiphei of JNV Churachandpur.
In the oral quiz contest, the three- member team of Super Luwang of Brighter Academy, Khaidem Jackson of St John's English School and N Thanggousin Vaiphei of JNV Churachandpur were declared the joint winner of the Ist prize.
The first prize of this year's science exhibition for children was bagged by L Bidyashori Devi of Paradise English School for her model on Handicap's Compound Tareng (Spindle).
The second prize was bagged by Huidrom Biteshwor Mangang of Wangoi Higher Secondary School for his Multipurpose Speed Sowing cum Sprayer Machine and the third prize by N Dinesh Singh of Nambol Higher Secondary School for his Tracer cum Weeder model.
The awards of the district level best teacher guide have been given to 13 male teachers and one lone female teacher.
The lone female teacher awardee is AS Finahpam, a science teacher of OTC Junior's Academy School, Ukhrul.
The presentation of her students was on recycling and reuse of old newspapers.
The 29th edition of the annual State level science exhibition for children had been participated by 46 schools from all over the State with 68 exhibits.
All the participants were also presented with certificates and mementos .
