Governor Dr SS Sidhu has conveyed his best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Independence Day tomorrow.
In his message, the Governor said that while celebrating Independence Day by paying homage and tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle, all the people should renew their pledge to protect the hard won freedom at any cost and under any circumstance and to re-dedicate to the task of Nation building.
Noting that Manipur is lagging far behind other States of the country, the Governor called upon the people to give a big impetus to the development pace of the State by cultivating an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
Dr Sidhu also asked the people to ponder over the problems ailing the State and to devise a way so as to bring about a better and progressive Manipur.
President of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Gaikhangam greeting the people of Manipur on the occasion of the 60th Independence Day of the country called upon the people to pledge afresh to consolidate the freedom and integrity of the country and to work united for peace and progress.
Major Gen BS Ghotra, IGAR South has also greeted the people on the occasion of Independence Day.
In his message to the people, the IG appealed to all to join hands and take up concerted efforts to bring peace and prosperity to the State as a tribute to all the freedom fighters who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle.
