Imphal, February 13: Imphal West District Police Commandos arrested three alleged activists of the proscribed PREPAK and ZDV outfits and seized the Gypsy in which they were travelling along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition from near a cinema hall at Taothong last night.

Talking to mediapersons this morning, SP of Imphal West, Clay Khongsai alleged that the arrested underground activists were driving around in the Gypsy which had no number plate and trying to extort money from candidates of various political parties.

Khongsai identified the alleged arrested PREPAK activist as 2nd Lt Langpoklakpam Binoy alias Lakpa (30) of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai, who had undergone training at Chungnu in Myanmar under army no 9503446 and the other two alleged ZDV activists as corporal Jinkhansin Zou alias John 927) of Sugnu Zou Veng and private Paolien Zou alias Ruben (19) of Churachandpur New Zou Veng.

The arms and ammunition recovered from them include one lethode gun, five bombs, one Chinese-made hand grenade, one AK-56 rifle, two magazines, one countrymade bombs, one detonator and one US carbine, the SP informed.
