Along with organising a free medical camp, Manipur Peace and Integrity Council (MAPI Council), Manipur distributed clothing items donated by OISCA at Khunphung village under Tamei sub-subdivision of Tamenglong district on November 8 .
While informing that it was the first time that any social organisations have ever come down to organise a free medical camp, the people of the remote village located along the border of Manipur and Nagaland at a distance of 133 kms from Imphal have welcomed the gesture of MAPI Council.
In connection with organising the free medical camp, secretary of Khunphung Village Authority KH Lunglingbou informed that around five to six villages located in the border area including have been lagging far behind others in development including facilities for medical care and many villagers are dying from Malaria every year.
In such a situation, the gesture of the MAPI Council is very appreciated,
he said.
MAPI Council president Th Manihar explained that the medical camp is being organised as a step towards understanding the problems of the people living in far flung and remote area so as to help in overcoming their problems.
In all 300 villagers were treated and medicine provided free of cost during the camp.
Clothing items of two bags each weighing 100 kg and handed over to OISCA by Japan Relief Clothing Centre were also distributed among the villagers at the occasion.
