Imphal, February 10: Giving a clarion call to all the people to extend their support to Sharmila who has been fighting a lone crusade against prolonged imposition of Armed Forces Special Powers Act in Manipur, the AFSPA Temshingnabi Chanu Sharmila Khongjang Sougat Nupi Lup continued with its street corner campaign at different parts of Imphal East district today.

On the 19th day of the month-long programme today, the street corner campaign was launched at Porompat, Kongba Bazar, Irilbung Khongkhong, Konung Mamang, New Checkon, North AOC, etc.

Speaking during the campaign, president of Salai Apunba Nupi Lup Ibethoi observed that if all the political parties in Manipur are really commitment to the public demand for removal of AFSPA and save the life of Sharmila, then they should stay away from participating in the democratic election of the country until the Act has been scrapped in accordance to the aspiration of the people of Manipur.

Sharmila is the daughter, sister and granddaughter of all the people of Manipur, so every mothers, every fathers and evert brothers should join in the ongoing campaign.

Only then we can save the life of Sharmila, she said.

Ibetombi, a woman activist of the Apunba Lup who also spoke during the campaign said people of Manipur should not remain suffering under the impact of killing and atrocities any more, but should come out to raise their voice against such atrocities and violation of human rights.
